Gwinnett Tech Honors Best and Brightest at Dean's List Reception

Students Recognized For High Academic Achievement at First Ever Event

Gwinnett Technical College (GTC) honored its most accomplished students at a special reception for Dean's List recipients last week. The first-time event drew more than 200 honorees who received their awards from the deans of their programs.

"I think it's important to get to know your dean and other leaders in college administration, like those in Student Services, that can help enrich your college experience," said Steve Moyers, GTC's Dean of Health Sciences.

To earn a place on the Dean's List, students must have been enrolled full time in the 2012 spring or summer terms and earned at least a 3.69 grade point average. More than 700 students earned the Dean's List credential.

Surgical Technology student Jeffery Scott Bailey was among the recipients in attendance.

"It's a moment to celebrate the hard work that I've done in the former semester and a chance to look ahead at the new work I'm doing now," said Bailey. "It's exciting to have that moment to take a breath, sit back and say 'Wow, I really did that!'"

Students spent the evening mingling with their peers and GTC faculty members while enjoying gourmet refreshments provided by the school's Culinary Arts students.

After the overwhelming success of the first Dean's List reception, it will now become a regular Gwinnett Tech tradition.

Gwinnett Tech offers more than 50 degree, diploma and certificate options that can be completed in two years or less. For more information, visit www.gwinnetttech.edu or call 770-962-7580.
